The Skincare Edit

Our selection of the best skincare from eye creams to serums, to help you feel like you, only better...

Here at Alla Moda we don’t say ‘anti-aging skincare’ because we aren’t believers in ‘anti-aging’– it’s not about reversing the years, getting older is a privilege, but instead its about being the best version of yourself. And if that means you’d prefer to have less wrinkles around your eyes or firmer skin, it’s about what makes you feel happy and confident in yourself and the products that will help you achieve this.

The beauty industry is a minefield with the constant stream of new products to try, a brand to know or an ‘it’ product we all need in our lives. It can be hard to filter down to products that don’t just promise but actually work and do what they say they do. We’ve done the work for you and tried and tested a huge variety to bring you the best in each category – the ones worth your money that deliver results.

Cleanser

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm, £47 –

Struggling with a dull and tired looking complexion? This is the cleanser for you. With rose and jasmine extract to help restore radiance, a moisture locking balm texture that plumps skin and feels luxurious upon application.

Elemis Pro Collagen cleansing balm, £43 –

Not only does this cleanser dissolve make-up and daily grime but also pollutants (which really affect our skin). Designed for all skin types this cleansing balm will leave skin feeling nourished and glowing and one you’ll look forward to using come night time.

Sarah Chapman Skinesis Ultimate Cleanse, £48 –

This balm transforms into a gentle cleansing milk on contact with the skin, working to clean, soften and smooth. If you’re looking for anti-ageing benefits from your cleanser, look no further, as this contains Dermaxyl and Q10 to help support skin collagen, as well as vitamin E and A to protect the skin against daily pollutants.

Eye cream

Goldfaden MD bright eyes, £48 –

A three in one wonder product that combats dark circles, puffiness and fine lines with its formula containing Soy Peptide, Rice Bran Extract and Organic Red Tea. This cream will leave the eye area looking brighter and more youthful looking and is perfect for all skin types.

Kate Somerville + retinol firming eye cream, £72 –

If you’re concerned about the aging appearance of your eye area, this is the product you need. If you’ve read our guide to Retinol then you’ll know just how many benefits it has for fine lines, wrinkles, skin texture and pigmentation. This product which contains the powerful ingredient, really works to bring a firmness to the eye area and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles. What’s more? It’s also blended with hyaluronic acid to provide key hydration.

Dr Dennis Gross Ferulic and Retinol eye cream, £68 –

Another formula containing retinol, but in a different way to the one above as it is combined with ferulic acid which works together to brighten and tighten the eye area. The cream also protects against sun damage – an impressive formula that you’ll see results with.

Serum

Sarah Chapman Skinesis age repair concentrate, £95 –

As one of the women behind Victoria Beckham’s glowing complexion (she does her regular facials) we trust that Sarah Chapman knows a thing or two about anti-ageing. Her age repair concentrate serum is a highly potent formula that contains powerful anti-ageing ingredients designed to improve skin appearance, plump fine lines and wrinkles, even out skin tone and pigmentation and add firmness. It promises a lot and isn’t cheap but trust us, it delivers.

Drunk Elephant c-firma day serum, £67 –

A natural, no fragranced brand that is worth the hype surrounding it, and their serum is no different. Containing 15% L-Ascorbic acid as well as pomegranate extract and pumpkin ferment – working to firm, brighten and illuminate, 3 key elements we all want from our skin. A product that gives you the skin you desire by using no harsh chemicals and most importantly, is cruelty free.

No7 protect and perfect intense advanced serum, £34-

When a BBC documentary aired in 2007 testing anti-ageing products and whether they really work on wrinkles, it was No7’s protect & perfect beautiful serum that was deemed the most effective. 12 years later, the hero product that kept on selling out has had an upgrade to an ‘intense advanced’ formula and is the UK’s first serum clinically proven to deliver anti-wrinkle results that get better over time. A combination of retinyl palmitate, hyaluronic acid, rice peptide, antioxidant complex and matrix 3000 plus (the key technology in helping to restore youthful looking skin) means this serum really packs a punch and at under £40, it’s worth stocking up.

Night cream

Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair, £55 –

A cult favourite for a reason with more than 75% of women feeling their skin looked more youthful after 4 weeks use. And whilst this product has been around for a while, don’t let that put you off as it’s constantly being updated with the latest technology so it’s even more results driven.

Elemis pro collagen overnight matrix, £125 –

When India Knight, beauty columnist at The Sunday Times Style, raves about something, we try it: “It makes you wake up looking significantly better than you did when you went to bed, and it keeps on doing it.” This product is far from reasonable but put simply, it’s a game changer. A clinically proven treatment that contains ELEMIS’ ‘Smart Drone Peptide Technology’ that works through the night to help restore skin, with 100% of users agreeing their skin bounced back to life with this product. Definitely one for the birthday list.

Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial, £49 –

Going to sleep and waking up with plumper, smoother, healthier skin is what we’re all after and that’s where overnight facial comes in. Containing vitamin A and renovage as well as essential oils and antioxidants ensure this product does exactly what it says on the tin – gives you an overnight facial. You’ll wake up looking as though you had a full 8 hours rest (even though that rarely happens), fine lines will be reduced and complexion will appear plumper. A product that requires you to do nothing but apply and sleep? We’re sold.

Moisturiser / day cream

Augustinus Bauder the cream, £205 –

If budget isn’t an issue, then this is the only day cream worth considering. A revolutionary product inspired by 30 years of research and innovation by Professor Augustinus Bauder, one of the world’s leading experts in stem cell technology and biomedical science. This cream doesn’t weigh skin down, yet is incredibly hydrating and contains unique ‘Trigger Factor Complex’ (TFC8®) to reduce signs of ageing and damage and strengthen the skin. A science and results driven formula, at a price, but an investment worth making in our opinion.

Elemis pro-collagen marine cream, £85 –

An award winning product by Elemis, named by Beauty Editor of The Times Magazine Lesley Thomas as a product she swears by. This formula contains SPF 30, a key element as we should all be wearing SPF everyday, whatever the weather. But don’t worry, no white streaks come from the SPF element, nor is the texture of the cream altered – it’s an added (much needed) benefit that you won’t notice. If you’re looking for an anti-wrinkle day cream that delivers results, look no further.

IT Cosmetics confidence in a cream, £39 –

A wonder brand developed with plastic surgeons (who are leading experts in skin rejuvenation) in which the whole range is fantastic but particularly this cream. A light weight product that contains high performing ingredients such as collagen and hyaluronic acid giving you and your skin a serious confidence boost. Ideal for all skin types in which we think you’ll notice a difference in your complexion almost instantly, and at a purse friendly price.
